The time cannon is temporarily unvailable
Maryborough, set your clocks
In 1878 the cannon was mounted at Queen's Park where it was primed with gunpowder every day. On a telegraph signal from Brisbane, it was fired at 1pm, allowing the people of Maryborough to set their clocks.
The time cannon kept Maryborough synchronised with the rest of the world until it stopped firing around 1890.
A replica time cannon is still fired by the Town Crier and Mary Heritage every Thursday at 1pm on the Town Hall Green.
